CIN
A unique 21-character identification number allotted by the Registrar of Companies to an incorporated company.
The Corporate Identity Number (CIN) is a 21-character alphanumeric code issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs when a company is incorporated. It encodes the listing status, the industry classification, the state of registration, the year of incorporation, the company type and the registration number, so the entity can be uniquely identified across filings. LLPs receive a similar identifier known as the LLCIN.
Examples
A company’s CIN is printed on the Certificate of Incorporation and quoted in MCA filings to identify the registered entity.
