AIS
A consolidated statement on the income-tax portal that shows a taxpayer’s financial transactions and TDS/TCS information for a financial year.
The Annual Information Statement (AIS) is part of the Income Tax compliance portal and consolidates information reported about a taxpayer for a financial year, such as specified high-value transactions, interest, dividends, securities activity, and taxes credited. Taxpayers can view the AIS, give feedback marking an entry as correct or disputed, and use it to reconcile figures before filing the return. The AIS is built around two views — information and the tax credit statement.
Examples
A filer downloads the AIS before preparing the ITR to cross-check interest income and TDS credits for the year.
