GSTIN
Goods and Services Tax Identification Number — a 15-digit unique identifier assigned to every GST-registered taxpayer.
GSTIN is structured as 2-digit state code + 10-digit PAN + 1-digit entity number + 1-digit alphabet + 1-check digit. It is mandatory on every tax invoice, e-way bill, and GST return. Cancellation or surrender of GSTIN must be applied for within 30 days of business closure. A cancelled GSTIN must be revoked before it can be used again.
Examples
The GSTIN 27AAACR1234A1Z5 indicates Maharashtra (27) + PAN AAACR1234A + entity 1 + check digit Z5.
